this is just making me sick and angry
seriously, i want to cry.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/12/31/gaza.israel/index.html

this is a bit outdated because there's more settlements put in like everyday it seems. and despite that big whoop tee doo about the dismantling of one settlement means nothing when israel has NEVER stopped creating settlements. (they're illegal)

http://www.firstpr.com.au/nations/

look at those maps. if you were a palestinian you would think any pretense of a deal being brokered with israel would be a joke. it's always been meaningless. they have never had any intention of giving any land to the palestinians. and how could they if they've infiltrated their land this much? israel has never really co-operated. every deal is either vaguely worded and gives the palestinians nothing or sets up a situation that is sure to fail.

the palestinians always get blamed for the failure of the deals. yes terrorism is wrong. i don't think in this case launching rockets is terrorism because it's no different than what israel has been doing. suicide bombers is wrong yes. there will be no peace until israel removes ALL of those settlements from their land. then can we really take any deal seriously. either way it shows that you do not intend to ever have a two state solution.

and this just makes me soooooooo fucking sad because the US has the fucking power to make this work. but they never do it. i will have to give bush a little credit to standing up to them a little more than past presidents. but it's never enough. it shouldn't even be a question. get your fucking settlements out or we don't give you money. because it costs israel a lot of money for those settlements because the govt has to protect it.

urgh. you will probably be hearing more rants this coming semester as i am taking a class on the palestinian-israeli conflict.

first off, i am not blaming the general israeli population. i am blaming their govt and their settlers who continually antagonize the palestinians.

and i am not for palestinian terrorists, i am for the people. they are greatly wronged. as for the govt, they never get a chance because they are so crippled by the israeli govt.

israel: "control your people!"
*bombs palestinian jails*
PA: "ok sure, quit destroying our infrastructure so we can actually do something."

I do wish there would be a ceasefire, but the Palestinians did start things with their rocket launching.

And as for the Palestinian "people", they are the ones who voted into government a terrorist organisation who wants to destroy the State of Israel, which is just as bad to me as Hitler. The people AND the government are not looking for a solution, only destruction.

And I don't understand how you have the view that Palestine is being crippled by Israel. Israel is the only non-Arab country in the region on this little tiny bit of land, and yet the Palestinians have to have it. Plus the Palestinian military has only been strengthening in Gaza for months, that's hardly being crippled.

I also find the entire Palestinian mindset really disturbing. Officials are blatantly speaking about making Gaza an Israeli graveyard and sending their children to pick over their corpses.

are you serious or are you just fucking with me???!
1. I do wish there would be a ceasefire, but the Palestinians did start things with their rocket launching.

and their rocket launching started because? you can't really simplify the matter by saying "well he started it!" because it is never that cut and dry. hamas said the ceasefire truce was null and void when israel invalidated it.

2. And as for the Palestinian "people", they are the ones who voted into government a terrorist organisation who wants to destroy the State of Israel, which is just as bad to me as Hitler.

i love how they are "people". no bias there huh? anyhow, hamas is not JUST a terrorist organization. they have a militant wing which is not part of the government. and if you knew your history you would know all of the groups under the PLO were at one point a terrorist organization. terrorism is just a word to use to demonize your enemy during conflict. i'm not saying it's not true, but if you took the same definition of terrorism, israel would be the biggest perpetrator. anyhow, back to what hamas really is. they are a goup whose 90% of their work is building schools, hospitals and other humanitarian aid. that is why they got so popular in gaza and were voted in. and to add, by your rationale, democracy is only ok if it suits us and our allies? no! if we want real democracy we have to respect all of it! or it just makes us look like a hypocritical joke.

also, hamas wants a two state solution. they removed the whole destroying israel part. personally i think at this point it needs to be a 3 state solution. how are you going to have a country split in the middle by another country? that is a joke.

3. And I don't understand how you have the view that Palestine is being crippled by Israel.

ok i don't really want to be mean but i feel i have no other choice. please know what you are talking about before you say something. israel has had a blockade on the gaza strip for a VERY long time now. the region has little food and water. unemployment is over 50%. they have no gas. they were strangling the gaza people.

4. Israel is the only non-Arab country in the region on this little tiny bit of land, and yet the Palestinians have to have it.

ok i am now just going to pretend you are playing devil's advocate by saying these things and don't really believe it. yeah it must suck to be living somewhere and then suddenly getting kicked out of your homes and forced to move with no compensation so there could be a *JEWISH* state! (i don't believe there should be any theocracies or any ties to religion in a govt. jewish or muslim.) the palestinians were there first. and yes i know the biblical history and all, but it wasn't the palestinians that made them leave. so now we have generations upon generations who have lived in that region. it wasn't until the late 1800's that any jews started to migrate there. you can't just force large groups of people out and expect them to go quietly. if we're going to go back that far though, i mean we could have avoided it all if that was handled much better! but i digress, if you look at the map and see where the palestinians have been pushed into. go look at that link again. look at the west bank. look at how much is israeli controlled palestinian land and then joint ones and then how many are fully controlled by the PA. look at those settlements. now look at gaza. at least for the most part gaza is PA controlled. but see those settlements are encroaching on their land. they are coming in from both sides, trying to separate them from egypt! it looks like the israelis are the ones who want to push the palestinians into the sea!!!

5. Plus the Palestinian military has only been strengthening in Gaza for months, that's hardly being crippled.

i assume you meant israeli military. no their presence has ALWAYS been around them. it is more of a build up yes but don't think for a second they were very little before.

Sorry, but your comment of 5488 characters exceeds the maximum character length of 4300.
6. I also find the entire Palestinian mindset really disturbing. Officials are blatantly speaking about making Gaza an Israeli graveyard and sending their children to pick over their corpses.

right they ALL think that don't they? jeezus christ. you have no idea what they think or want!! NONE! and the media is the biggest perpetrator of that! of course they're only going to show you the things that would rile you up. they need to hit your buttons. so please do not make sweeping generalizations like that. i mean it is easy for us to say whatever we want. we're not over there on either side. but there are israelis who are and they think the govt is going too far. there's a majority of people that would give the palestinians their demands because they know it's fair and they actually want peace. but you know who doesn't? the israeli settlers. they're the ones who creep into the palestnian lands. steal their homes. the israeli govt has to protect every settlement out there. but they let them do whatever they want to the palestinians. i have a friend on LJ who is or was over there a lot. walking palestinian children to school and protecting them from the settler kids throwing rocks at them.

so i'm sorry, i don't agree with terrorism of course but i also understand it is a symptom of helplessness when you have absolutely no other recourse. we need to help with the root cause of these things if we ever want peace. (and yeah, i'm not naive enough to think that EVERYONE would be happy with that! there will always be extreme groups out there. )
